Joining YMAS

Before you join,
you may want to come down and see us at the Bossall Flying Field - directions are available Here. Members are always happy to help newcomers and we have a number of examiners so you can get your BMFA certificates. If you are new to the hobby, our BMFA certified instructors and other members can advise on choice of equipment and will help you learn how to fly. The YMAS membership period runs from January to December. Separate BMFA membership and CAA registration are required for all members.
By applying to join York Model Aircraft Society you are agreeing to YMAS collecting and processing your personal data please read our privacy statement https://ymas.org.uk/pages/gpdr.php

It is a legal requirement for all model flyers in the UK to register with the CAA and get both a Flyler ID and (if 18 or over) a Operator ID (which must be displayed as specified by the CAA on the model). The model flyer must have evidence of their competency (regardless of age) by passing the BMFA RCC test or CAA DMARES online test before they can fly (Apart from where an individual is under training and another registered person is responsible for the flight).
An individual can register with the CAA either through the BMFA or directly with the CAA.

For more information see British Model Flying Association - Be Lawful - Be Safe - Be responsible page
CAA registration is currently £11.13
